5.5 Cents a Round

Well, it’s the cheapest I’ve seen it in a while.  I went to the local ranch store to pick up some chicken feed.  I always eye the ammo on the way by the counter.  They haven’t had any .22 lr in a long time, so I nearly broke my neck when I saw bulk packs on the shelf.

It’s Federal Auto Match.  I’ve never used the stuff, but hey, shooting is shooting, right?  And it can’t be much worse than the Thunderbolt I’ve been picking up.  Not only that, it was bulk boxes of 325 rounds and they were only $18.00 a piece.  That’s roughly 5.5 cents a round.

I’m seeing bulk boxes more and more.  Unfortunately, I don’t think it will last.  There’s a lot riding on November.  For those of you who don’t remember the last go around, when the BHO was elected, ammo dried up real quickly, the common calibers, at least.  That’s when i started shooting .40.  It was a little more rare back then and a little more common now.  I’m not sure .40 will stay on the shelves this time like it did last time.  This isn’t a bad time to invest in an odd caliber pistol and rifle, if you have the cash.

When I was a kid, I used to stay at my Uncle Myron’s house overnight every once in awhile.  On Saturday morning, he’d come into the living room, put his hands on his hips and ask, “What do you little jeezers want for breakfast?  Scrambled eggs or scrambled eggs?”

That’s how I feel about this election.  But the choice is between turd sandwiches.

Pax Domini Sit Semper Vobiscum,

Mike, Oscar, Hotel…..out.

  1. That’s about as cheap as I have seen them here. Not long ago Wallyworld had those boxes of Federal for the same price. Have not tried them yet. But then again that’s what it cost me to reload 9mm and 38 spl. It may yet come down to reloading your own 22’s.

Save your spent cases, I don’t think it is practical for regular use but it may be a good way to tech the kids about reloading ammo.
